House Hold Maryland's board brings together expertise in public service, community development, nonprofit leadership, and operations. Every member serves because they believe that keeping families in their homes changes communities.
Toure' Antonio Nelson
Toure' Antonio Nelson didn't build House Hold Maryland from a boardroom. He built it from a belief — shaped by years of watching families navigate a system that wasn't designed to help them, armed with a conviction that the right combination of knowledge, advocacy, and genuine human support can change the outcome of a foreclosure before it ever gets filed.
A Maryland native with deep roots in the communities he now serves, Toure' has spent his career at the intersection of housing, community development, and advocacy. He founded House Hold Maryland in 2026 as a direct, practical response to what he saw happening in Baltimore City, Prince George's County, and communities across the state.
Under his leadership, House Hold Maryland has positioned itself as the first AI-augmented housing counseling nonprofit in Maryland — combining the irreplaceable value of human counselor relationships with technology that ensures no urgent case falls through the cracks.
Loren Gross Jr.
Loren Gross Jr. serves as Program Director for House Hold Maryland, bringing over 20 years of management experience to the organization. He specializes in streamlining operational workflows and developing high-performing teams.
Before joining House Hold Maryland, Loren spent a decade as a Call Center Manager at Verizon FiOS, where he coached 20 professionals and consistently exceeded performance benchmarks.
His passion for financial education drives his work — he believes lasting empowerment begins with foundational knowledge, making him a natural fit for an organization built around helping Maryland homeowners make confident decisions.
Vernon Wallace
Vernon Wallace brings over 18 years of experience empowering fathers and strengthening families. A Morgan State University graduate, he began his community service career directing two Baltimore City homeless shelters before finding his calling in the responsible fatherhood movement.
At the Center for Urban Families, he managed the nationally recognized Baltimore Responsible Fatherhood Project — helping fathers pay over $400,000 in child support through an innovative debt leveraging program. In 2013, Governor O'Malley appointed him to the Commission for Child Custody Decision Making.
Vernon continues to consult and train organizations across Baltimore, having engaged over 700 fathers in recent years. His conviction that stronger fathers build stronger families aligns directly with House Hold Maryland's mission.
Torey Lawrence
Torey Lawrence is a graduate of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, where he earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees. Since joining the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 2001, he has served the National Agricultural Statistics Service in a range of leadership and operational roles.
His commitment to public service extends beyond the federal government — Torey is passionate about coaching youth basketball and mentoring young people in his community, giving back in ways that mirror his professional values.
A devoted husband and father of three, Torey brings the same dedication to family and community into his role on the House Hold Maryland board — believing that stable homes build stronger futures for every generation.
Carla Young
Carla Young serves as Vice President of Membership and Community Relations for the Greater Bethesda Chamber of Commerce, where she has spent more than two decades building relationships and connecting organizations with the resources they need to grow.
A University of Maryland Eastern Shore graduate and Class President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation's Institute for Organization Management, Carla brings deep expertise in nonprofit leadership and association management to the board.
She chairs the Bethesda Transportation Advisory Committee, serves on the board of Friends Club, and mentors entrepreneurs and leaders across Bethesda and Baltimore — driven by the belief that meaningful connections create lasting impact.
